Fiero Code includes curriculum for robots and maker hardware. This is an exciting development in the code club world because kids will now have the option to write a line of code and see it happen in the real world.
How cool is that?
Here’s the buying guide so you know exactly what to buy that will match with our curriculum.
Sphero Robots
Spheros are ball-shaped robots that you program with your computer or phone. It’s got sensors, sounds, and is kind of adorable.
For our curriculum, pretty much any Sphero robot will work, but we recommend their education-specific model called the Sphero SPRK+. The following are all the options that would work with our curriculum.
- Sphero SPRK +: Amazon | Direct from company
- Sphero Mini: Amazon | Direct from company
- Sphero Bolt: Amazon | Direct from company
Ozobot Evo Robots
Ozobots are another device in the robot family. They’re cute, yet powerful.
They have two robots in their product line, but all of our content focuses on the Evo device. It can do a lot more than Bit (the other product they make) and is still super affordable.

Makey Makey
Makey Makeys describe themselves as invention kits for the 21st century. That really doesn’t capture the amazing things they can do. Makey Makeys enable someone to turn just about anything in the real world into a code-able device.

Rasbperry Pi
Raspberry Pis are simple computers that fit in the palm of your hand. They come with all kinds of coding abilities built in, but the possibilities are endless.
There are several different models of Raspberry Pis. Most will work with our curriculum, but we recommend the Raspberry Pi B3+
Also, our content incorporates an inexpensive maker Starter Kit so we can do some really cool stuff with the device. That kit is linked below.
Both a Raspberry Pi and the Starter Kit are required for this module.
